Grey Lynn Montessori by Busy Bees is a nurturing, intentional space offering each child a Montessori prepared environment, freedom to learn and explore at their own pace. Experienced and knowledgeable teachers guide and extend children's individual learning and discovery, giving them space and time to explore inside and outside. The children are able to work independently, in small groups, or join in intentional mat times throughout the week, building focus, concentration, empathy and consideration for others, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our two bright, spacious rooms are purposefully set up to invite and encourage children to choose their own activities, make new discoveries and extend their learning throughout the day. With established curriculum areas that offer a wide variety of materials, tailored to the mixed age group, each child learns in a calm, intentional manner that enhances their focus, concentration and problem-solving skills. Fostering belonging through shared experiences and tuakana-teina relationships means reciprocal learning is central to the daily routines. Children learn and grow together, in a space they call their own.
Our dedicated and experiences teaching team also draw on their knowledge of other education pedagogies, giving children exposure to daily provocations and experience from our diverse and exciting world. Backed by the strength and support of the Busy Bees, Bee Curious curriculum, MOVE and Nourish programmes, Grey Lynn Montessori is a perfect place for a child's first step from home. We are proud to be a lunch box centre, encouraging independence and self-help skills. We encourage healthy eating habits and provide guidance and ideas for what to put in your child's lunch box. Teachers regularly bake with the children, providing them with opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparation skills, fine motor control and the joy of shared kai. Our baking is based on the Nourish recipes provided in our Nourish healthy eating programme.
Heart Foundation
Our centre team is currently striving towards the Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation for the amazing things we do here to promote healthy food and physical activity.
Here at our childcare in Grey Lynn, we follow to the Montessori Philosophy. Various curriculum areas of a Montessori environment include Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Culture.
